Class 23 - hosted a Casino Night fundraiser as their Project; all proceeds from the night went to the Merced Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (ComVIP). Class 22
Class 21
Class 21 and did a Mexican fiesta & Drink Mixer out at Bellevue ranch model homes. The food was donated by local business and money was raised by charging for tickets and selling alcohol at the mixer. The money to the G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Traing) program hosted by the Merced Police Department.
Class 20
Class 19- No project.
Class18
Class 18’s project was to support the MSSM Foundation. http://www.mssmfoundation.org/
The MSSM foundation is dedicated to the memory of Christine McFadden’s four children, Melanie, Stanley, Stuart, and Michelle. The Foundation’s goal is to serve the community as her children would have. We offered assistance by providing private donations to the Friendship Scholarship program through MSSM, and also a private donation to the UC Merced Lantern Room’s McFadden-Willis Reading Room. In addition, members of our class volunteered to read the essays for the Scholarship program and help decide the top scholarship essays.
Participation in the MSSM Foundation not only pays tribute to memory of four wonderful young people, but also enriched all of our lives. It would be impossible to come away from being involved with the MSSM Foundation and not be inspired to serve the community as indeed Melanie, Stanley, Stuart and Michelle would have.
